Mold end Pontblyddyn’s unbeaten record in North Wales League Division One

MOLD (13) 170-9 PONTBLYDDYN (2) 95-10

Leaders Pontblyddyn’s season-long unbeaten streak of 14 matches came to an end at second-place Mold, who cut the gap on the table-toppers to 12 points.

Put into bat, the hosts set 170-9 off 45 overs, Isaac Allen top-scoring with 43, John Crane adding 28 and Kieron Coppack 24.

Pont’s Ryan Dunning claimed 4-22 and James Hughes 4-44.

Richard Crane then starred with 5-24 as the visitors were all back in the hutch for 95, no batsman scoring over 20.

Gareth Davies also snapped up 4-31 on a memorable day for Mold.

HALKYN (14) 42-3 RUTHIN (1) 40-10

Jamie Griffiths produced astonishing figures of 6-9 off 10 overs as Halkyn rolled over Ruthin in double-quick time.

In a match which lasted less than 38 overs in total, the visitors, who elected to bat, were flattened for just 40 in 23.5, Ben Roberts also notching 3-17.

Halkyn clinched a 14-1 verdict with 42-3 in 14 overs, Jac Evans 2-26 for the outclassed visitors.

ABERGELE (1) 105-10 BANGOR 2ND XI (14) 107-3

Christopher Dawson concocted a great spell of 5-25 off 10 overs as Bangor seconds made light work of Abergele.

After winning the toss and opting to bat, Gele were dismissed for 105, Karl Higgins best with 30, Andy Williams (2-28) the second most successful bowler behind new-ball merchant Dawson.

Jamie Davies ended up 40 not out as Bangor made it to 107-3 in 34.5, sharing in an unbroken fourth-wicket stand of 60 with Peter Jones (16 no).

BETHESDA (4) 157-9 LLANRWST (11) 158-8

A great battle at Parc Villa ended in a Llanrwst triumph.

Inserted by the visitors, Pesda set 157-9 off 45 overs, skipper Nicholas Parry leading the way with 41, Richie Parry 37.

Trefor Williams nabbed 4-35 and Nathan Jones 2-31 for the Conwy Valley men.

In reply, the Roosters were sitting pretty on 131-3, had a few late jitters, but got over the line on 158-8 off 41.2.

Trefor Williams completed a great match with 51, Aled Hughes posted 33, while Andrew Day snared 2-16, John Maloney 2-28 and Jamie Savage 2-41 for the hosts.
