Millbank battled back from a goal down to topple three-time Sunday football quadruple winners FC Mally at Rhydwen Drive, Rhyl, on Sunday.

The game started with Llandudno Junction visitors Mally in control despite a few chances created by the hosts.

Despite a solid first half from the Milly, FC Mally showed their class and went in at half time 1-0 ahead through a Peter Jones strike.

The team talk at half time was very positive for the Rhyl side – much of the same required with the same energy.

Millbank deservedly levelled 10 minutes into the second half with a sublime finish on the turn from Kylan Ellis.

Delighted Millbank manager Liam Groves

Now demonstrating why they won’t be making up the numbers this year, the hosts went on to press the game and took control, FC Mally seemingly losing their composure.

It was only a matter of time before the ever-pressing Millbank were to go on and secure the winner, Lewis Jenner combining with number 10 Joel Poh, who produced the deciding goal to seal an historic victory.

Millbank manager Liam Groves said: “All of our players put in 125% work rate after being demanded at half time for a bigger performance. I couldn’t be prouder of this team and how far we’ve come in such a short space of time.”

Mally manager Andy Colville commented: “We dominated the first half, just couldn’t score, also went into the game without a goalkeeper so Sam Tidswell deputised. It was a good game, end-to-end.”

Andy also revealed Mally have made two marquee signings, both ex-Llandudno and Llandudno Junction players in Kevin Colville and Joe Morgan.
