After winning the Cymru Premier title in his first season at Connah’s Quay, Danny Davies has decided to join the club which lost out in the championship race to Nomads last term.
The 25-year-old right-midfielder was announced as The New Saints’ latest signing today.
Davies joined the Nomads in summer 2020 following a successful two-year spell at JD Cymru North team Prestatyn Town, where he was part of the 2019-20 title-winning side.
The Prestatyn-born player is an ex-professional cricketer, having played for Northamptonshire as well as spending three separate stints in Australia to play the game. However, he returned to the UK after injuring his arm and decided to get back into football.
Prior to becoming a successful cricketer, Davies started his career as a Prestatyn youngster before joining Chester City’s Academy.
He made his Welsh Premier League debut for Prestatyn’s first team when he was 16 against Port Talbot Town and also claimed a Wales U17 cap against Scotland in 2012.
Davies’ first appearance for the Nomads was in a Europa League fixture with Dinamo Tbilisi in September 2020.
He went on to win the JD Cymru Premier in his only season with the club, featuring in 34 matches and scoring five goals, before choosing to join the 2020-21 runners-up TNS. He will wear the number 22 shirt at Park Hall.
