Buckley (11) 137-4 Menai Bridge 2nd XI (4) 135-9

What an exciting young team Buckley are!

They fielded five players under-16 in Saturday’s game against Menai Bridge, yet still had the maturity to hold their nerve and prevent the opposition winning a thrilling run chase.

Bucks were put into bat and 16-year-old debutant wicket-keeper Seren Smale showed her class with an encouraging 21 opening the innings.

Captain Louis Parry went on to make 47 not out and William Norman 34 no as the hosts reached 137-4 off 40 overs.

For the Bridge, Phil Smith returned excellent figures of 3-13 from nine.

In reply, the Anglesey side were coasting on 121-5 off 30 overs, but some super-tight bowling ensured they came up two short at 135-9.

Ben Evans (50) and James Jones (26) did most to put the Bridge in a strong position, but Buckley’s bowlers played a blinder.

Jack Whitley grabbed 3-10 off nine economical overs, Norman picked up 3-30 and the rest all played a part.

Points: 11-4 to Buckley.

Bersham (15) 46-0 Llay Welfare 2nd XI (0) 43 all out

Nilanka De Silva took 4-0 off three overs as seven-player Llay were bowled out for just 43 in 18.3 overs, Huw Jones making a stubborn 19.

Bersham coasted to 46 without loss in 12.4 overs, Suresh Lakmal Koswaththage and Amith Thilakarathne (spell check at the ready!) both 21 not out.

Carmel and District (3) 70-9 Northop 2nd XI (12) 110-10

Charlie Collins (32) and Leo Grieg (28) produced all-important scores as Northop 2nds compiled what turned into a winning 110 at Pen-y-Gelli.

For Carmel, who chose to field first, Connor Hughes took 3-23 and Stephen Skates 2-15.

Carmel could only manage 70-9 off 40 overs in response, Scott Oates 4-15 for the away side.

Marchwiel and Wrexham (13) 101-5 Mochdre 2nd XI (2) 100-10

A fairly comfortable five-wicket victory for the hosts.
Put in by the home side, Mochdre 2nds were all out for exactly 100, Scott Roberts and Daniel Phillips both notching 29 runs, Sam Heard-Edwards with 3-12 and Phil Oddie 3-23 for M & W.

George Forgrave registered 37 and Josh Williams 29 as the home team reached 101-5 off just 16.5 overs, Gareth Davies 2-30 for the visitors.

Mold 2nd XI (15) 244-7 Denbigh 2nd XI (0) 84-7

Top-of-the-table Mold 2nds were in ruthless form with the bat as they crushed Denbigh by 160 runs.

Openers Ewan Hill (92) and Lewis Pringle (62) laid a mighty foundation as the hosts amassed 244-7 off 40 overs.

George Jones added 33, while Ian Hall pouched 3-49 and Chris Brown 2-44 for nine-player Denbigh, who were then limited to 84-7, Keith Embleton 3-28 and Pringle 2-16.

St Asaph 2nd XI (14) 83-3 Gresford 2nds XI (1) 82-10

Roger Cloate snaffled 3-17 as Saints bowled out a Gresford side which opted to bat for just 82.

Asaph then eased to 83-3 for a 14-1 points split.
