James Carter’s maiden hundred helped guide Chirk to a massive win which wiped out the memory of their opening day crushing against St Georges.
Carter’s 100 not out off 101 balls was the highlight of a dominant performance from the North Wales visitors.
Winning the toss and electing to bat, the travellers rattled up 317-6 off 45 overs, with a chief stand of 129 for the fourth wicket between Carter and Andrew Swarbrick, who cracked 82 from 59 deliveries, including 10 4’s and two sixes.
Carter’s wonder knock involved 11 boundaries and two maximums.
Opener Gareth Partridge made 36 and Nick Flack 31.
Flack and Carter compiled 84 for the third wicket.
Chirk’s four-man attack then combined with ruthless efficiency to dismiss the opposition for 127.
Billy Swarbrick scooped 3-28, Andrew Swarbrick 3-38, Luke Gardner 2-23 and Flack 2-31.
Points went 24-3 in Chirk’s favour.
Next up for Chirk 1st XI is a home game against Beacon next Saturday, May 8, while Chirk 2nd XI begin their Division Seven campaign at Cae Glas 2nds.
