Welsh Alliance League Division One – April 28, 2016

Five years ago this week, Llanrug trounced bottom side Llanfairpwll at Eithin Duon and in the process extended their unbeaten run to 10 matches.

On 13 minutes youngster Luke Phillips gave United the lead with a fine finish to the bottom right hand corner following an excellent low cross from the right by striker Alan Mark Owen.

The hosts doubled their advantage on 21 minutes. Midfielder David Noel Williams released full-back Mathew Phillips down the left flank. Phillips outpaced his opposite number, cut inside into the penalty area and unleashed a powerful drive into the top right hand corner.

In the 36th minute David Noel Williams’ quickly taken corner caught the visitors rearguard napping, as striker Alan Mark Owen made it 3-0 with a powerful unstoppable header.

Owen struck again on 41 minutes. A pinpoint goal kick by Dylan Roberts freed Luke Phillips down the right flank. Phillips evaded the full-back and delivered the perfect cross for Owen to head home.
