Highly experienced Dave “Pixie” Taylor has joined Caernarfon Town as first team coach.

Taylor, 55, departed Cefn Druids last month after the best part of a decade on their management team.

He previously worked with current Caernarfon boss Huw Griffiths at The Rock.

Griffiths said: “I’m delighted to have the experienced golden boot, Dave ‘Pixie’ Taylor, joining the excellent staff team we already have. We are all looking forward to working with him.”

Taylor is an ‘A Licence’ holder and is probably best known for winning the European Golden Shoe after netting 43 goals for Porthmadog during the 1993/94 season.

In all, he scored 118 Welsh Premier goals in 225 appearances, his other clubs being Conwy United, Inter Cardiff, Newtown, Holywell Town, Welshpool Town, Cefn Druids, Oswestry Town and Caersws.

The highlight of his playing career came in 1994 when he landed the prestigious European Golden Shoe after pocketing 43 goals in 38 league games for Port in the Welsh Premier.

Following his record-breaking season, he moved to Inter Cardiff and featured in their Uefa Cup campaign against GKS Katowice of Poland.

After his football career ended, Taylor joined Caersws as assistant to then manager Mike Barton in 2007, following the departure of club legend Mickey Evans.

He then took the helm for a season, before resuming his assistant’s role when Evans returned to the Recreation Ground hot seat.

Taylor then began a long spell as assistant and first team coach at Druids.

Dave also formerly managed the Wrexham Ladies football team, where his daughter Steph was a key defender.

After winning the Welsh Premier Northern Conference in 2011-12, Pixie was also in charge when Wrexham were part of the first fully-national Welsh Premier Women’s League in 2012-13.

The Dragons finished third, the best position achieved by a North Wales team in the league’s history so far.

Hailing from the Wrexham area, Dave’s experience of North Wales football is vast.

All the best Pixie.
