Nail-biting finish in prospect in race for the Cymru Premier top six

The battle to finish in the top six will be the main focus when the final round of matches in Cymru Premier League phase one takes place today.

Connah’s Quay Nomads, The New Saints, Bala Town and Barry Town United have already secured their places in the upper-half Championship Conference for the second stage of the 2020-21 season.

Two more spots are up for grabs and three teams are vying for them – Penybont, Caernarfon Town and Haverfordwest County.

To add spice to today’s action, Penybont and Haverfordwest meet and is the live game on S4C, kick-off 5 pm.

A win or draw for Rhys Griffiths’ Penybont outfit will clinch them top six status and will also book Caernarfon their berth, regardless of what the Cofis do at The New Saints this evening.

However, a Haverfordwest win could complicate matters, as it might put all three contenders on 32 points, bringing it down to goal difference.

In that scenario, Penybont (+2) and Haver (-4) have a superior GD to Caernarfon (-6).

Town can seal an upper six finish if they win or draw at TNS – regardless of what happens at Penybont.

The Cofis are on a fantastic run of eight matches unbeaten.

It all adds up to a thrilling night of entertainment in the JD Cymru Premier.
