Two girls who have made their mark as North Wales League title-winners have landed top positions for Bangor University women’s football team in the 2021-22 season.

Awel Fflur Ellis has been appointed team captain and Haf Morgan-Read is the new club captain.

Awel, 20, is a strong, industrious, hard-tackling centre-midfielder or forward who has played for Caernarfon Town, Bethesda Athletic, Llanberis and Bangor 1876, which is her latest club.

While at Bethesda, she won the North Wales League Division Two title in 2018-19.

She was at Llanberis in 2019-20 and scored four goals in a thrilling 5-4 win at Pwllheli.

While with the Darans, she formed a great partnership up front with Ffion Mair Roberts, and the pair will be together again at 1876.

Haf (back row – second from right) with Northop Hall’d double-winners of 2017-18

Haf, 21, hails from Halkyn and plays her club football for Northop Hall.

A forward, she was part of the Hall championship-winning sides of 2015-16 and 2017-18.

She is studying primary education at Bangor University and despite her young age offers plenty of experience as a footballer.

The 2021-22 Bangor University women’s football committee are:

Treasurer: Holly Williams
Secretary: Finley Kidd-Smithers
Social Secretaries: Chloe Small & Molly Barton
Team Captain: Awel Fflur Ellis
Club Captain: Haf Morgan-Read
