A great match under the lights at Maes Tegid, Bala saw Brymbo earn a good draw against their former management team of Phil Hudson and Tommy Holmes, who are now in charge at Ruthin.
The Steelmen competed extremely well against a very useful Town side. New Brymbo boss Dave Roberts will be extremely pleased with the commitment shown by his players.
Ruthin created a number of decent chances throughout the game but Chris Boyes, Ste Orsler and Nat Wilson at the back for Brymbo were immense.
Brymbo’s young goalkeeper, Josh Pelling, made some fine saves and also kept out a penalty from former Steelman Jamie Cumming.
Then Brymbo went 1-0 ahead courtesy of some great wide play from Charlie Orsler, who cut the ball back from the right wing for the energetic Sam Kakari to fire home from near the penalty spot.
As the game went into the last 10 minutes, Ruthin were pushing forward in search of an equaliser and after a cross-field ball out to the wide right, Matty Hill hit a sweet, first time right-footed volley into the far corner of the goal from just inside the the 18 yard box. A stunning goal.
Brymbo played some nice football at times through midfield, with John Coady controlling play.
Rich Lawrence, with some fantastic surging forward runs and Paul Rambaldi, linking the play in midfield and moving the ball well up to makeshift forward line Rhys Peers and Paul Hughes, helped Brymbo prove a handful for the Ruthin back-line at times.
