Women’s recreational football is back! Llysfaen and Dragonhearts meet

Action from Llysfaen Lionesses v Dragonhearts

Women’s recreational football made a glorious return tonight when Llysfaen Lionesses beat Dragonhearts 4-1 in a well-contested game.

What a first game back it was !

Both teams produced some great football throughout, Emma Fisher the star for Llysfaen with a hat-trick.

Llysfaen started very strongly in the first third, showing no clues they had been away for so long.

They put the pressure on the Dragonhearts, who took a while to find their flow, and were awarded with two very well-worked goals. First third ended 2-0 to Llysfaen.

The second third was a completely different story which saw Dragonhearts come out a lot stronger, playing good football and putting the pressure back on Llysfaen.

The Dragonhearts had a few chances following some good attacking play, however Llysfaen’s goalkeeper Georgia Davies made some amazing saves to ensure the second third ended 2-0.

Both teams came out strong in the final third, but fitness levels following the lockdown break started showing.

Dragonhearts managed to pull one goal back from a fantastic left foot shot from new player Ruth Salisbury.

But Llysfaen rallied and scored another 2 in the final 10 minutes to secure the 4-1 result.

Huge well done to all players for a great first game back! Thank you to Llysfaen for hosting and enabling the game to go ahead safely.

Llysfaen scorers: Emma Fisher 3, Hayley Gibson; Dragonhearts: Ruth Salisbury.
Player of the match for Llysfaen was Georgia Davies.
And Dragonhearts was Ruth Salisbury.

Llysfaen Lionesses have a new coach Colin Archer who also manages a junior team for Llysfaen FC.
