Brymbo Football Club appointed Dave Roberts as their new manager.
Roberts is a former Hawarden Rangers and New Brighton Villa player and manager, respectively.
He joins the Steelmen from New Brighton, where he has spent the past 4 seasons as manager along with his duties of managing the North East Wales team.
Roberts has developed a growing reputation as fantastic young manager and coach, reaching a cup final as well as nurturing players that have since moved on to play for clubs at a higher level.
He is an ambitious young manager with the relevant coaching qualifications and came highly recommended.
Following a number of discussions, Brymbo felt he would align perfectly with its own philosophy in recent years of offering exciting young coaches the opportunity to develop.
Brymbo general manager Chris Parry said: “I am delighted we have brought Dave to the club. I was hugely impressed by his understanding of the game and I could tell after speaking to him for a few minutes, just how ambitious he is.
“It’s an exciting period for the club and also Welsh football and I believe Dave can help us achieve our goals.”
“I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the New Brighton Villa secretary, Zoe Edwards and chairman, Leigh Griffiths for their support of Dave and the seamless transition.”
When asked about his appointment, Roberts said: “I’m absolutely delighted to be here at Brymbo. I’d been at New Brighton for a very long time and it would have taken something extremely special for me to leave in terms of clubs and that something is Brymbo FC.
“I don’t think I could have found a better club to be given this opportunity with.”
Roberts will be bringing in his own trusted coaching staff and is looking forward to meeting up with the squad and club coaches at his first training session on Saturday.
The new man replaces Phil Hudson and Tommy Holmes, who recently took over at Cymru North club Ruthin Town.
