As I was unable to find 11 Owen’s I’ve compiled a seven-a-side women’s team from the North Wales football scene, past and present, with that name.
Still to come is an Edwards seven.
We’ve previously published a Roberts seven-a-side and before that selected a women’s Thomas XI, Williams XI, Jones XI, Hughes XI, Davies XI, Roberts XI and Evans XI.
The ultimate goal scoring attacking midfielder.
She captained Caernarfon Town to the 2016-17 North Wales League title and Betty Pickering Cup double, scoring 33 goals in the process.
This season she has notched 19 goals for North Wales Women’s League Division Two leaders Amlwch Town, who she joined last summer.
And in June 2019, Ffion was a crucial member of the Ynys Môn side which reached the Inter-Island Games final.
Llangefni girl Ffion specialises in spectacular long-range goals, but can score from anywhere.
Attacking player who has been a very consistent goalscorer for Llandudno in the Welsh Premier League over the years.
In the 2015-16 season, when Tudno reached the Welsh Cup Final for the only time in their history, Sofie netted 14 goals.
She began her career with Llandudno Under-13 girls and later represented the North Wales Coast in tournaments at Aberystwyth and on the Isle of Man, aged 15 and 16 respectively.
Sofie has always been respected for her 100% commitment to the game and although often employed as a left-sided attacker, the player herself prefers a more central role up front.
With Llandudno resigning from the Welsh Premier this season, it remains to be seen what the club’s future will be and whether Sofie will be part of it.
From Waunfawr area.
Former Welsh Cup winner with Bangor City, representing the team in their glory era of the mid-to-late 1990s and early 2000s.
Right back, quick and loved her position as she had Manon Lloyd Williams in front of her. Elain had her long ball passes picked out by Manon Jiws all the time.
Elain always possessed a great understanding of the game as a player and has developed into a fantastic coach/manager.
She has spearheaded Northop Hall in their Welsh Premier League and now North Wales League adventures.
Centre midfielder and a very popular player who has performed at a good level.
Currently with Mountain Rangers of North Wales Women’s League Division Two, but has also represented Caernarfon Town successfully in the past.
Nerrisa has also been part of the North Wales Development Squad.
Central midfielder who played in Denbigh’s North Wales League title-winning team of 2014-15.
Elen can also play centre-back or at centre-forward.
What she lacks in pace she can make up for with good ball skills and reading of the game.
Haf is also a central-midfielder, but can play at full-back as she did for her university team.
Like Elen, she was a key member of the championship-winning squad of 2014-15.
Haf is good on the ball and has an astute understanding of the game.
There was serious competition for places at Bangor City in the early 2000s, when the team was winning Welsh Cups and playing in the high standard Axa Northern Division.
As well as the regular players, there was a solid bench, and Rebecca was often more of a squad player than a starter, but when she did get on the park she was a very solid defender.
Hails from the Denbigh area, but was considered good enough to be signed up by the Citizens.
