Netball: Night of thrillers in North West Wales League

Abergele Diamonds were seven goals down at half time but came back to win 43-40 in Division Three

What a night of nail-biters in the North West Wales Netball League!

Division One saw Rhyl edge a 31-29 verdict over St Asaph Thunder.

A really close opening quarter had only one goal in it. Rhyl started to open up a lead in the next two sessions, but St Asaph were not letting them run away with it at all.

With some fantastic shooting from both teams, Thunder clawed back the arrears and finished only two goals behind.

It was centre court shining with the PoM going to WA Emma Owen for Rhyl and C Kat Williams for St Asaph.

In Division Two, Colwyn Swifts clinched an even more intense win against division high flyers Llandudno Storm – the final score 32-31.

In a goal-for-goal thriller there was never more than two between the teams all the way through.

The players certainly kept the scorers and umpires on their toes. With only one goal separating the rivals at the end, Colwyn took the five-point victory.

And there were some close battles in Division Three too.

Thunderkittens fought really hard in their narrow defeat

Gleision had to work hard to overcome Thunderkittens 20-18.

After losing the first quarter 7-4, it was definitely an uphill struggle for Kittens, but even at the end of the third and down by six, the youngsters certainly didn’t lose steam!

The final quarter showed Kittens had so much to give, storming up to within only one goal until Gleision just added in another to seal a narrow win.

Again it was centre court producing the stars with Gleision centre Helen Smith and WD from Thunderkittens Cerys Davies named players of the match.
