Gwynedd & Anglesey Netball League: Menai force dramatic draw, Celts stunning rally is not quite enough

WaliB’s edged a great battle with Tacos in Division Two

Menai Mavericks produced a fantastic last quarter comeback to force a 26-26 draw with Pwllheli in Division One of the Gwynedd and Anglesey Winter Netball League.

Pwllheli led by five goals at the end of each of the opening three sessions, but Menai took the curtain-closer 9-4 to bag a share of the spoils.

Another astonishing rally in the final quarter was not quite enough to save Arfon Celts from defeat against Penygroes Primos.

Primos extended their lead over the first three quarters at 9-7, 19-13 and 27-19, but Celts made changes in the last and won it 10-3, only to lose overall 30-29.

In Division Two, WaliB’s and Tacos were almost inseparable across the first three sessions.

Tacos led 10-9 at half time, but it was 15-15 entering the last which WaliB’s edged 5-4 to secure a 20-19 victory.

Despite having just six players, Sombreros pushed Mellt Brynrefs all the way. Mellt were 8-5 down at the end of quarter three, but took the last 7-3 to win 12-11.
