Netball: Victories for Subway, Moniars, Walibees and Wnion in Division Two

Newly-formed Tacos competed well on Tuesday night

Gwynedd and Anglesey Winter Netball League Division Two summary – October 22, 2019

Moniars and Amigos played out a really good game in week two of matches on Tuesday night.

Both are junior teams from school year 9. Moniars were consistent throughout all of the court and took the win 31-13, but Amigos battled well and probably deserved a closer final score.

Walibees earned a narrow 19-13 victory over Mellt Brynrefs.

Meet Walibees – a development adult squad

Walibees are a development adult squad put together by Walis Netball Club last year who were playing their second winter league match against Mellt, another junior side from Clwb Pel-rwyd Brynrefail in their first winter season.

The Walibees started strongly in the first while Mellt were finding their feet, but gradually throughout the match the Brynrefs side got stronger.

They had a fantastic third quarter to bring the game closer and got to within three at 16-13 in the final session with brilliant defence before Walibees closed out the match with a strong finish.

Despite being short of players Wnion still emerged as winners

Wnion from Dolgellau had to take to the court with only six players against a newly-formed Tacos side, the third junior team from Ysgol Syr Hugh Owen in Caernarfon competing in their first match in the league.

Wnion went down to five players during the second quarter, but were back up to six by the third and went on to win 25-14.

There was great defensive play by both teams with the Goal Defence on either side receiving both Umpires and Players player of the match.

Pwllheli Subway Warriors defeated Sombreros 33-20. Subway were always in command, but the final quarter saw the young Sombreros display really good staying power to draw the session 7-7.
