Six of the Best: Games well worth watching this weekend

Llanrhaeadr-ym-Mochnant v Flint Town United

Fifth meets fourth in what could end up a really good contest at the Recreation Field.

Both sides will aim to bounce back from narrow 3-2 defeats, Llanrhaeadr unlucky to go down by that score at Bangor City last weekend, while Flint lost out in a five-goal clash with leaders Prestatyn Town.

Can see this one ending in a draw.

Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division One (2.30 pm)
Blaenau Amateurs v Bodedern Athletic

Blaenau danger man Meilir Williams

With five goals in his last two games since returning from injury, Blaenau’s Meilir Williams could prove a big danger man at Cae Clyd.

Bodedern have been outstanding at home, but struggled on their travels. However, they have their own goal machine in Dean Redmond.

Blaenau can achieve a narrow win if Williams maintains current form.

Guy Walmsley Welsh National League Premier Division (2.30 pm)
Holywell Town v Mold Alexandra

New signing Conner Kendrick could be one to watch for Mold

Two unbeaten sides lock horns at Halkyn Road.

This could end up the match of the day in North Wales.

A Holywell side lying sixth and undefeated in five hosting a Mold outfit currently third with five wins and a draw from six games.

Some cracking goalscorers on show here, but also two rock solid defences. Maybe just a single goal in it, Holywell to win.

NWCFA Junior Cup round one (1.30 pm)
Llanelwy Athletic v Bangor 1876 (at Belle Vue, Rhyl FC)

Could Bangor 1876 striker Les Davies light up Belle Vue as he has in the past? Picture: Kevin Owen

Postponed for a week, this tie sees a Bangor 1876 team make their first visit to Belle Vue on a run of 10 straight victories.

With 56 goals scored by 1876 in those 10 wins, Vale of Clwyd and Conwy League Premier Division newcomers Llanelwy will face dangers all over the pitch.

But the “home” side will be up for it and determined to cause an upset.

Cannot see beyond an 1876 win, but Athletic could make it tricky for a while.

Top Mark Uniforms North East Wales League (2 pm)
Bradley Park v Bellevue

Bellevue manager Delwyn Derrick (furthest left) at the team’s new kit launch in August

The bottom two meet in this one – 15 matches played between them and just one victory achieved in total.

That win came for Bradley Park – and it was a 6-1 result against Bellevue at the start of the season.

Will the Park’s psychological advantage gained from that August triumph be too much for Bellevue? Or can Delwyn Derrick’s bottom team break their duck?

I’ve pulled out the Optimism card and back Bellevue to win the day.

Lucas Oil Anglesey League (2 pm)
Llandegfan v Holyhead Town Reserves

The teams occupying the bottom two places in the league have both managed just a point this season – and that came against each other.

It was a real cracker when Holyhead and Llandegfan met on September 14, the match ending in a 4-4 draw.

Can either pick up that elusive first win of the campaign on Saturday, or are we in for another split verdict?

Boosted by a fine effort in losing 5-3 at Bethesda in the NWCFA Junior Cup last weekend, I back Holyhead just to edge a narrow victory.
