Llandudno Albion and Denbigh Town share the leadership of Lock Stock Welsh Alliance League Division One after both maintained perfect starts to the season at the weekend.

Leaders on goal difference Albion pipped St Asaph City 4-3 in a thrilling battle on Friday, while Denbigh edged a 3-2 verdict over Llanrug United the following day.

At Maesdu Park, club record scorer Dave Maddock lashed home the opener to make it 50 league goals for the Albion and 70 in all competitions.

Saints levelled when Mikey Hargrave was given all the time in the world to head in, but the home advantage was restored when Peter Jones burst into the box, worked the ball onto his left foot and drilled in his sixth goal in three matches.

Asaph were back on terms before the break through Josh Brown.

When the visitors went 3-2 up through Corey Brewerton’s fierce near post strike in the second period, Albion looked to be on their way to another loss against a bogey side of recent times.

However, Darren Jones’ men refused to give in and Luke Smith headed home from a corner in the 81st minute.

Four minutes from time, Dan Roberts got the final touch to another flag-kick from the left to clinch three massive points for the Llandudno outfit.

Denbigh took an early lead through Jake Walker at Central Park, but Llanrug battled back to lead just after the break via Alan Mark Owen’s superb header and a Dylan Owen penalty.

Mark Roberts equalised before, in the closing minutes, Billy Holmes was fouled in the box and Walker converted the decisive spot-kick.

Blaenau Amateurs made it back-to-back victories after goals from Iwan Griffiths and Meilir Williams sealed a 2-1 decision over Mynydd Llandegai, Ben Owen having put the visitors ahead.

Dean Redmond handed Bodedern Athletic an interval lead at Glan Conwy, but Jamie Jones’ thunderbolt free kick and Jordan Phillips’ 72nd minute net-finder ensured Glan celebrated a 2-1 result.
