Cricket – Mold edge up to third in North Wales Division One standings

North Wales League Division One


Mold edged up to third with a comfortable seven-wicket win at Ruthin.

The only Division One fixture played on Saturday due to rain saw hosts Ruthin regret their decision to bat first after winning the toss.

Richard Crane claimed 3-18, John Crane 3-31 and Keith Embleton 2-13 as visitors Mold bowled out the opposition for just 79, Michael Parton best with 25 for the home team.

Mold eased to 82-3 off 22 overs, Richard Deniz 31, Sandeep Anantharaman 2-7 from seven for Ruthin. Points: 2-13.

Division Two

All games cancelled.


Division Three

Pwllheli seconds took the narrowest of one-wicket victories over Carmel and District seconds.

Put into bat, Carmel were bowled out for 75 having been 57-1 at one stage, opener Jonathan Fisher the leading contributor with 27.

Nishanth Chinthangal scooped 4-16 off eight overs, while  Kalim Al Baloshi collected 3-7.

In reply, Pwllheli scraped home on 76-9, Cian Goodman best with 20, while for Carmel, Dafydd Timothy snapped up 3-13, Steve Scooter Jones 2-15 and Richard Collett 2-18. Points: 11-4.

Division Four

Marchwiel and Wrexham seconds (4) 85-10 Bethesda seconds (11) 86-8.

Sunday West Division

A half century from Evan Williams guided Conwy thirds to a four-wicket triumph at Bangor thirds.

Inserted by the opposition, Bangor set 169-7 off 40 overs, Sion Evans with a useful 51, while David Owen claimed 3-13 for the visitors.

Conwy dipped to 87-5 in response (Gavin Mart 37 and Allan Senior 36) before Williams turned the game with an unbeaten 55, guiding the hosts to 172-6 in 39.1 overs.

Christopher Dawson grabbed 2-15 and Hugh Kelly 2-31 for the Citizens. Points: 12-3.

Mochdre thirds thrashed away side Abergele thirds by nine wickets.

Luke Sellers dominated with 62 no as Gele were dismissed for 107, Owen Davies 3-12 and Martin Roberts 3-29 for the hosts.

Mochdre coasted to 108-1 in just 18.2 overs, Owen Davies 46 and Finlay Jones 38 no. Points: 14-1.

Sunday East Division


Northop thirds (4) 171-10 (Matthew Skillander 30, Tyler Jones 3-13, Dylan Stout 3-35) Connah’s Quay thirds (11) 172-8 (Dylan Stout 69, Evan Withe 2-25).


All other Sunday matches abandoned or cancelled.
