What a season 2018-19 proved to be for Llandudno Rugby Club.

The Goats landed the Division One North championship and North Wales Senior Cup double for the first time in their history.

For so many years the likes of Nant Conwy, Pwllheli and Caernarfon had dominated the list of champions, but this was the campaign where the Maesdu Road men truly came to the fore.

Tudno won the title in some style, finishing 18 points ahead of nearest challengers Pwllheli after winning 19 of their 20 matches.

Llandudno were beaten just once, 18-7 at Bala in February, and clinched the title with a 61-12 away massacre of Bethesda before closing out like true champions by winning 65-24 at Pwllheli.

And more glory was to come as Tudno beat old rivals Nant Conwy 18-11 in the North Wales Cup final.

The sides exchanged penalties evenly in the first half, Delwyn Jones with two for Nant and an Arthur Lennon double making it 6-6 at half time.

The second half saw the Goats begin to settle into a pattern of play they had shown all season with the forwards setting up a platform for the backs.

It was from a loose kick by Nant that the ball was collected and a quick pass out wide saw winger Dan O”Sullivan race along the touchline for the first try of the match.

On 69 minutes Cameron Davies touched down near the posts and Lennon converted to clinch the cup, a consolation try from Ifan Jones not enough to turn the tables for Nant.
