Y pencampwyr – CPD Bontnewydd

CPD Bontnewydd are the 2023-24 North Wales Coast West League Division One champions.

With one match left to play, Bont clinched the title tonight with a 2-1 victory at Llanfairpwll.

Still unbeaten in the league this term, with a record of 19 wins and two draws, the Caernarfon side end their campaign with a visit to runners-up Llanystumdwy this Friday.

This evening’s success at Maes Eilian ensured Simon Jones’ Bont heroes have an unassailable four-point lead at the summit.

Llanfairpwll, in good form themselves, took a 26th minute lead through top-scorer Marquis Holland, Tudur Morris-Jones with the assist.

Osian Glyn made it one-apiece at half time after finding the net on 36 minutes.

A draw would not have been enough to seal the Tier 5 crown, but a win was achieved when captain Luke Phillips netted from a Cai Williams assist with 74 on the clock.

It was a 17th goal of the season for Phillips, who is joint-second in the division’s highest scorer stakes.

Tonight brought an eighth straight league victory for Bont, who complete the double of Division One title and cup winners.
