Development League: CPD Y Glannau celebrate title success

Y Glannau Development celebrate their title success

CPD Y Glannau are the 2023-24 NWCFA Development Championship champions!

The progressive St Asaph club proved they are getting it right at more than one level as their ‘second team’ clinched the title with a 2-1 win over Prestatyn Wanderers.

Last Sunday’s game at Betws-yn-Rhos saw Glannau get off to a flyer, Ged O’Malley scoring in the first minute from a Louis Gizzi assist.

And 16-year-old Andrew George made it 2-0 on 27 minutes from the penalty spot.

The hosts had several chances to add a third but failed to take one, and this led to the match becoming a bit of a struggle in the end.

Credit to Wanderers, they kept battling and pulled one back on 64 minutes, Corey Alvarado’s long range effort sneaking it.

Home keeper Hayden Nicholls was then forced into a few fine stops to ensure the game was won.

At the final whistle Y Glannau Development were crowned Championship champions with an unbeaten record of four wins and a draw.
