North Wales football eccentric Andrew Ruscoe made a winning start to his spell as interim-manager of FC Mountain at the weekend.
Brought in as cover as recent Mountain boss Paride Muci has returned to Italy due to family matters, Ruscoe is being assisted by Calum Woods, who takes over the player-coach role from recent departee Steve Lewis.
A former goalkeeper for several teams, including Cefn Druids and Brickfield Rangers, the 39-year-old Ruscoe has embarked on several short spells in management for numerous clubs in recent years, including Prestatyn Town, Lex XI, Brickfield and Bala Town (U21s).
These days, he is renowned for his unique and sometimes outlandish PR work for The New Saints, where he is also responsible for the club’s futsal section.
Ruscoe and Woods will work closely with Mountain chairman Jamie Welsh during October, while technical director Max Leghissa finds a replacement for Muci.
Mr Welsh said: “That’s the plan although recent results may make him decide he has the right men for the job in place.”
Saturday’s result at Llansannan was certainly a good one, goals being shared between Owen Cassidy (2), Daniele Di Marco, Eden Heron, Cassidy Lamont and a great strike from coach Woods.
Llansannan’s replies came via a Heron own goal, Luke Molmans and Dafydd Jones.
Dean Seager scored twice for Swifts against his old club in Saturday’s Cookson Cup tie at Go Goodwins Stadium.
Isaac Carey and sub Lloyd McElroy added singles for the hosts, Bradley Evans responding for the Railwaymen.
Elliot Croston (2), Jamie Haggas and top-scorer Harry Croston split the goals as Llanfairfechan returned to winning ways.
Andrew George and Greg Parry found the net for a Glannau side which brought an end to Saints’ recent upsurge in form, sub Ellis Blench with the away goal.
Alfie Griffiths, Lewis Eyre-Williams and Kyle Lally produced the goals which guided Sports to victory, Luke Stanley and Connor Helleur replying for a Rhos outfit reduced to 10 men after 39 minutes when Ryan Gizzi was red-carded.
A week after both these sides advanced to the last 32 of the FAW Amateur Trophy, they shared the points at Y Morfa.
Cieran Williams netted both for Conwy, including a 91st minute penalty which salvaged a point, captain Alun Vaughan-Evans and Elis Jones striking for Cerrig.
Boro had Alex-Romio Kanamuinjo red-carded in the 58th minute.
Honours finished even at Y Morfa.
League newcomers Towyn took a 19th minute lead through Cam Berry, but Cameron West equalised after 37.
