Ever fancied giving Orienteering a try? Read on for a big opportunity.

For anyone who’s been thinking of doing one of the Orienteering Urban Night races, we’re coming to Conwy on the 8th of January!

We’re exploring the medieval streets of Conwy for this one. And it’s going retro-pen, paper and clues only! No map run. I’ve got a series of clues – both educational and non-educational for you to gather around town. Think treasure hunt, but the pot of gold is a lamp post!
Entries are open online at: https://pre-entries.co.uk/dl/events

Online entries shut at 8pm on 7th January so don’t forget! There will be some limited entries on the day as usual. Entries £5 members and £6 non-members. Cash and now a fancy new card machine are available for paying on the night.

Venue:
Registration is at The Bank in the centre of Conwy- 1, Lancaster Square. LL32 8HT. What3Words (entertainingly enough)
///perfectly.confronts.milkman
Registration shuts promptly at 6:40 to give us all time to have a race brief before starting the run at 7pm.

The Event:
The event is a 60-minute score course starting at 7pm. You will try to visit as many controls (checkpoints) to collect as many points as possible and get back to the finish (same location as the start) before 8pm. If you are late back, you will lose 20 points for every 60 seconds over the time limit. This is deliberately harsh, so don’t be late!

Each control will have a clue which might be a lamp post number, or something on a notice board. You’ll need to look around you to see some of the answers!

Controls are worth either 10, 20, 30, 40, or 50 points, where the first number of the control tells you how many points it’s worth. For example, controls 34 and 37 are worth 30 points each, but control 53 would be
worth 50 points. High vis is compulsory as is a fully charged headtorch.
Remember no high vis – no run.

Transport:
There are several paying car parks around town, the largest is Morfa Bach pay and display car park below the Castle walls
(What3Words:///remind.makeovers.cowboy).

Conwy train station (What3Words://uppermost.bongo.oasis)(my favourite What3words) is next to the registration pub. The bus stop (What3Words:///juggler.fights.junction) is also next to the venue.
You’ll get 10 bonus points for getting to the event without a car!
