Sub Ellie Williams bagged the all-important goal which secured three points for visitors Llanystumdwy.

A fourth victory in six league games for Sion Parry’s side keeps them fourth in the table.

Scheduled to be played on the 3G in Treborth meant that despite the rain the game was in no doubt. And on Remembrance Sunday, a minute silence was observed before kick-off.

The match started evenly, the only real chance of note in the first 20 minutes falling to the visitors when Seren Ellis picked up possession on the left and did well to carry the ball into the box beating a couple of defenders, but her effort was well saved by Elena Julio.

The home side’s only effort on target in the first half came from a free kick on 30, Elan Evans’ strike tipped behind by Sara Lacey for a corner.

As the half came to an end Llan were starting to have a bit more of the ball. When a Hana Wellings’ half volley from the edge of the box went just wide of the post, it meant it would be goalless at half time.

The second half followed the same pattern as the first, both teams playing some good football which the surface allowed despite the weather, but struggling to create chances.

Just after the hour mark, Caernarfon did create a chance. A ball down the right put Ellie Dunn through on goal, and although she was forced wide she got her shot off but only managed to find the side-netting.

Then on 76 minutes came the only goal of the game after Wellings did well to find some space from the edge of the box,

If not for a great save from Julio, Wellings would have scored herself… but she followed up the rebound, before cutting the ball back for Ellie Williams who from 6 yards out made no mistake as she put the visitors ahead.

With 12 minutes added on, it gave the home side encouragement that they could find an equaliser. They started to push players forward and forced a couple of corners, but couldn’t quite find that goal.

Sion Parry, Llanystumdwy manager, said: “I’m really pleased with that result today, we came in knowing Caernarfon have had a very tough start to the season in terms of fixtures but have still managed to pick up points. They took points from NFA and Pwllheli, two teams that have beaten us in recent weeks, so we knew it was going to be a tough game.

“And although chances were few and far between i did feel like we had the better chances overall and we defended well to keep our first clean sheet of the season. It was a similar situation for both teams today, both had a couple of players missing, struggled to put a big squad together, and towards the end with tiring legs and a couple of injuries we both could’ve done with having a couple of extra subs to make changes.

“We are in the middle of a tough run of fixtures ourselves now so at the end i’m really happy with the 3 points today, and really proud of our girls for the effort they put in throughout the whole game.

“There was an incident involving a Caernarfon player when she went down off the ball, and everyone at Llan wishes her the best and hope it’s nothing too serious.”
