Two huge victories in less than 48 hours for Llandudno Amateurs.
After Thursday night’s superb but gruelling success over higher-tier Dolgellau AAFC in the FAW Amateur Trophy, the Amateurs had to travel to face Y Glannau in league action less than 48 hours later.
Amateurs started well, moving the ball around, but Glannau pressed high and man-marked opponents.
They nicked the ball before a Dan Price bullet header after a great delivery from Thomas Edgley put the hosts 1-0 up in the seventh minute.
It took Amateurs a while to wake up and Y Glannau pumping the ball long and packing out the box was causing the visitors problems. However, Amateurs dug in and managed to find their feet.
The visitors levelled on 25 minutes. Good football from back to front led to finding Azz Rogers on the left of the Glannau box. Rogers’ passed to Lee Thomas and he fed Joe Jones who calmly finished into the bottom corner.
Amateurs were then awarded a penalty after Danny Hughes was brought down in the box. Up stepped Lee Thomas but Glannau keeper Brad Wright pulled off a fantastic save.
Half-time: 1-1
The visitors changed shape at half time and started to get on the ball a lot more.
They took the lead on 67 minutes when Joe Jones shot was blocked but then flicked into the net by a Glannau defender. However, the goal has been credited to Joe Jones.
It was 3-1 when away keeper Kyle King superbly collected a corner, released the ball quickly and found Lee Thomas down the left, He picked out the marauding Danny Hughes, who produced a great first touch off his chest and applied a quality with the outside of his right foot.
All this after Hughes had made a lung-bursting run from his own box.
Y Glannau pressed and did pull one back in the 92nd minute with cracking finish from that man Price again, but the Amateurs otherwise defended stoically and held on for a much-welcome win.
Hedd Williams, Delwyn Jones, Jac Edwards, Tirion Griffiths and Tomos Tryfan Jones shared the goals which earned Cerrig three points, Lewis Brownson, Harrison McQueen and Christian West replying for the visitors.
Cyril Carey and Harry Croston both delivered doubles as Llanfairfechan rose to fourth with a nap-hand success over Cernyw.
Thomas Croston was also on the mark for the hosts, Ianto Roberts missing a penalty for the visitors.
Niall Owen scored Mochdre’s first and last goals in this emphatic win which sees them lie third in the table.
Aidan Roberts and Cian Evans also found the net for Sports, while Rhos sit one off the bottom with just a single point.
Kevin Lloyd’s 15th minute goal – his 10th of the season – from an Owain Gibbard assist gave Llanrug the lead at Cae Stanley, but Bont turned things around in the second half to win thanks to strikes from Cai Penny Williams and captain Rhys Hughes.
A first point for Gwalchmai who remain bottom while Llannerchymedd are a point and a place above them.
Gwion Thomas handed Medd a 69th minute lead at Maes Meurig, but Gwalch captain Darren Roberts equalised on 81.
The visitors had Lewis Connor dismissed for a second yellow on 79.
Goals from Ben Parker and Gethin Davies after 72 and 79 minutes respectively banked the points for Llandegai at the expense of previously in-form Penrhyndeudraeth.
Deio Jones’ 34th minute goal from a Rhys Williams assist was enough to clinch the points for Nefyn at Maes Dulyn, Nantlle slipping to their first league defeat of the season,
