NWCFA JUNIOR CUP ROUND OF 16 – REPORTS, OCTOBER 11

CPD Aberffraw 7 CPD Pentraeth 1

Connor Gordon was a hat-trick hero for an Aberffraw side which roared into the last eight at Cae Cynlas.

Andy Clarke also struck twice for Berffro to move up to nine goals for the season, while subs Jac Grindlay and Ioan Jones added one each.

Dyfed Alston scored early in the second half for Pentraeth when his team were just 2-0 down.

Ifan Clayton and Rob Swift both delivered doubles for a Llandyrnog outfit which ended up comfortable winners in this all-North Wales Coast East Division One tie.

Sub Joel Rowlands added a single for Dyrny, while Kelvin Berks replied for Wanderers when they were two behind in the opening minutes of the second half.

CPD Cefni 2 Holyhead Town 4

Town rallied from two goals down to score four without response in the final quarter of Saturday’s clash at Isgraig.

It looked good for Cefni when a James Ryan strike on 35 minutes and a Nathan Lewis net-finder deep into added time at the end of the first period gave the hosts a clear interval lead.

However, after the home side had Glenn North dismissed for a second yellow card on 50 minutes, the picture soon changed.

Craig Moore and Festus Osagie netted on 66 and 68 minutes respectively to make it all-square, setting up a fascinating ending.

Moore missed a penalty on 77, but just a minute later Sion Jones notched Holyhead’s third.

Nik Kontodios then added a fourth for the Harbourmen after 82 to see them through.

Crozzy 2 CPD Mountain Rangers 3

Josh Williams (2) and Dion Jones supplied the goals which earned Mountain Rangers progression to the next round of the Junior Cup by a narrow margin at The Oval.

Charley Kemp (pen) put Crozzy ahead on 20 minutes before Jones equalised after 45 and it remained 1-1 until 82 was showing on the clock, after which Williams grabbed a double.

That third away goal four minutes into injury time proved a killer, although Crozzy battled to the end with Tommy Talbot bagging a second for the home side before the final whistle.

CPD Deiniolen 2 CPD Caernarfon Borough 2 (Deiniolen won 5-3 on pens)

Deiniolen edged through on penalties after a close-fought local derby finished 2-2 at the end of 90 minutes.

Underdogs Boro, still without a league win since returning to football this season, led 2-0 during the first half with goals on 33 and 36 minutes via Jackson Roberts and Owain Hughes.

Sion Foulkes pulled one back after 38 and captain Arwyn Price levelled on 62.

Connor Roberts missed a chance to win it in normal time for the hosts when he failed from the penalty spot, but Deiniolen managed to get it right in the shootout, Roberts making up for his earlier miss by knocking in the winning kick.

CPD Gaerwen 2 Llanfairpwll 3

Anglesey derby joy for Llanfairpwll as they survived a late fightback from neighbours Gaerwen to reach the last eight.

Goals from Ashley Davies after two minutes, Jake Turnbull on 37 and sub Dan Burns, with a penalty in the 75th, looked to have put Pwll out of sight.

However, Anthony Williams cut the deficit on 77 and Nathaniel Evans made it 3-2 after 89 to set up a tense finale.

Gaerwen pressed to force a shootout, but the visitors held on.

Prestatyn Sports 3 CPD Henllan 3 (Henllan won 3-1 on pens)

Henllan were overjoyed after turning over Sports on penalties at The Meadows.

The visitors fought back from 2-0 and 3-1 down to force a spot-kicks showdown.

Dylan Taylor, Ashley Garrett and Matty Griffiths found the net for Sports, but a Shaun Davies hat-trick had Henllan level by half time.

A goalless second period led to pens and the Vale of Clwyd side triumphed 3-1.
