It has been a tough week for Glantraeth Football Club but there was a happy event to round it off.
Almost 20 years after he topped the club’s goals chart, Gaz Wyn Roberts has been presented with his Leading Scorer Trophy for the 2007-08 season by Glantraeth chairman Gareth Evans.
For whatever reason he did not get it at the time and his wife Sian, who works in Malltraeth’s Tafarn Y Joiners, brought the omission to the club’s notice recently.
Gareth and former secretary Stan Strickland were only too happy to commission this engraved crystal trophy, however belatedly, recognising Gaz Wyn’s achievement that season.
The presentation took place in the Joiners today.
Roberts, a skilful goalscoring midfielder, was an outstanding player spanning numerous years for the likes of Glantraeth and Bodedern, where he won the Welsh Alliance League title in 2004-05, as well as Llanfairpwll.
Glantraeth withdrew from the North Wales Coast West Premier Division this week following a difficult summer, but hope to reform next season.
