CRICKET: North Wales Division One – Mold back in top form, wins for Pontblyddyn and Halkyn

DIVISION ONE

Captain Isaac Allen made 44 runs and took three wickets with the ball as Mold bounced back from their first defeat in 17 matches to claim a maximum points win and strengthen their hold on top spot.

Put into bat, Northop seconds were limited to 153-8 off 45 overs, James Roberts 36, Allen 3-36, Munowar Samsodien 2-18 and Ian Noonan 2-23.

With the rain causing disruptions in play, Mold were set a revised target of 101 to win off 24 overs.

They reached 104-1 in just 10.4, Allen hitting four fours and four sixes in his 44 off 15 balls, Ewan HIll finishing on 34 not out.

Bangor 2nd XI (3 points) 111-4 Gresford (3) 0-0 – abandoned due to rain

Halkyn (14 pts) 137-2 – revised target Connah’s Quay (1) 193-7

An eight-wicket victory for Halkyn in a rain-affected encounter at Pant Newydd.

Connah’s Quay were asked to bat and posted 193-7 off 45 overs, Tom Hooson 55 and Luke Bennett 39, Alex North taking 3-30 and Nathan Roett 2-30 for the hosts.

Due to the weather, Halkyn were posed a new target of 137 off 27 overs.

They got there in just 19 overs for the loss of only two wickets, Nathan Lavender 52 not out, Matthew Towey 40 and Roett 33 no.

Llandudno (3) 0-0 Hawarden Park (3) 125-10 – abandoned

Mochdre 2nd XI (3) 137-9 Brymbo 2nd XI (3) 0-0 – abandoned

Jake Hughes took 6-48 for Brymbo seconds, Mochdre seconds being reduced to 137-9 off 34.1 overs before rain wiped out play for the day.

Pontblyddyn (14) 135-2 Dolgellau (1) 134-10

Inserted by the hosts, Dolgellau were dismissed for a modest 134, Jaco Oosthuizen 40, Osian Jones 3-29 and Vishwa Manawaduge 2-21 for Pont, who reached the winning post at 135-2 from a mere 14.5 overs.

Manawaduge clouted 77 not out off 48 balls including 12 boundaries and three maximums, Gethin Thomas 38 no, that pair putting on an unbroken third-wicket stand of 105.
