North Wales parkrun round-up

Report by Don Hale

Local football ace Aaron Dodwell was in magical running form again at the weekend Prestatyn Parkrun.

The up and coming referee and most recently midfielder for CPD Y Glannau and SM30 competitor was first past the post at Saturday’s Nova event, recording a new course PB and sharing the exact time of 17.58 with JM15-17 Northern Ireland visitor and junior athlete Matthew Lamont.

There was another good turn-out of 248 finishers at the warm but windswept race, which saw Nic Brook (Eryri Harriers) take third spot in 18.26.

The first female finisher was Anna Drinkwater in 19.16, (6th overall) with Gemma Moore (Eryri Harriers) hot on her heels with a new PB in 19.29, whilst Eve Manifold (Eryri) was 3rd with a new PB in 22.03.

Some Conwy on Tour members at Nova included: 17th Josh Mottram (Colwyn Bay AC) in 21.18, and he won his SM18-19 age cat, with club colleague Ian Taylor 34th in 23.38. Steve Mason (NWRRC) finished 71st in 26.00, meanwhile Liz Evans (GOG Triathlon) was 74th, and she also won her VW75 in 26.13, with master vet Don Hale (NWRRC) 86th, and 2nd VM70 in 27.35 and John Stallard 120th in 30.16.

It’s not just about the adults! Six-year-old local lad Jack Buckley completed the Nova 5k in a new PB of 30.17. Awesome stuff! Before long Jack, you’ll be winning gleaming trophies as well as mini bags of Skittles!
