Ynys Môn men’s squad were in great form as they kicked off their preparations for next month’s Island Games with an 8-4 victory over Holyhead Hotspur at Treborth.
Hotspur were late replacements for original opponents Trearddur Bay, and the club newly-promoted to the JD Cymru North could also take positives from Friday’s friendly.
Llangefni Town’s Osian Jones will have been delighted at scoring a hat-trick for Môn. while CPD Dinas Bangor City 1876 duo Dylan Summers-Jones and Sam Jones, as well as Cai Roberts, shared the remainder of the goals.
Former Hotspur front man Summers-Jones bagged a double, as did Jones, with Roberts adding a single.
On the plus side for Hotspur, new signing Connor Owen, who joined this week from Gwalchmai, netted two on debut, while last season’s top-scorer Cory Williams and Ifan Emlyn Jones produced net-finders too.
Ynys Môn assistant-manager Gerwyn Roberts said: “It was a brilliant game and a decent test with a really good crowd in attendance. The management team were really pleased wth how the players played together for the first time and took huge positives out of it.”
