Prolific marksman Walker joins Prestatyn Town

Prestatyn Town’s latest signing Jake Walker is a prolific goalscorer

Goals is what new Prestatyn Town signing Jacob Walker is all about.

The 32-year-old has been a prolific marksman in recent seasons, mainly in the colours of Denbigh Town but also St Asaph City.

Walker first joined Denbigh from the Saints in 2018-19, a campaign which saw Town relegated in the final season of what was known as the tier 2 Cymru Alliance.

In the 2019-20 Covid-curtailed season, Walker really made his mark, finishing top-scorer in the farewell campaign for the Welsh Alliance, notching 23 goals in 17 league games for the high-flying Denbigh.

He was also prolific in the cups, his final total that term being 35 goals in 27 outings.

Walker was on fire again in 2021-22, when Town were among the founder members of the new tier 3 Ardal North West League.

He was fifth highest hitman in the ANW with 26 goals, bagging 30 in 26 matches for the club in all competitions.

The following season saw Denbigh crowned 2022-23 Ardal North West champions, lift the Ardal Northern Cup and reach the FAW Amateur Trophy final.

Walker struck 23 times in 39 games that season, eight of them in the league, bringing his total over the past three seasons at Central Park to 88 goals in 92 appearances.

After 13 more matches in a Town shirt at the start of 2023-24, Walker departed the Cymru North club in October to re-sign for St Asaph City.

His overall final stats for Denbigh (2018-19 to 2023/24) were: 146 appearances and 94 goals in all competitions, including 101 league games and 59 net-finders.

He is the club’s second-highest goalscorer since records began being kept in 1992.

Walker scored twice on his second debut for St Asaph in a 3-0 Welsh Cup win at Pentraeth on October 28, 2023.

His brilliant goal-getting knack in the ANW continued, as he scooped 19 to finish fifth in the 2023-24 league scorers table, but he was just five behind the leader and not having joined until October, had less games than many of the other hotshots.

While Walker’s tally was down on previous seasons in 2024-25, he still managed to finish in the ANW top 10 with his 12 goals for City.

He leaves Roe Plas Meadows with fine stats in his second spell of 35 goals in 60 games in all competitions.

Now comes a new challenge at a level he thrives at with Prestatyn Town.
