Chris Jones has scored a few vital winning goals in his career and he produced another one tonight.
The 39-year-old former Leeds United and Wrexham prospect netted the decider in CPD Boded’s 2-1 home victory over Llanrug.
The result keeps alive the Ynys Môn village side’s hopes of a fourth-place finish in their first season in Tier 4.
Jones once notched one of the most famous goals in Bangor City’s history, the winner at the Racecourse, Wrexham, against Finland’s Honka in the 2010-11 Europa League.
He also struck a last-minute clincher for the Citizens in the 2012-13 Welsh Cup semi-final win against The New Saints at Rhyl.
While in the twilight years of his fine career and these days operating at a lower level, the former Wales Under-19 international nonetheless has never forgotten where the goal is.
Tonight’s game against Llanrug saw the hosts take a 13th minute lead when Cai Owen set up Dylan Griffith to fire home via the post from just inside the box.
United levelled in the 27th minute when the evergreen Jonathan Sadler bagged his 22nd goal of the campaign.
However, Chris Jones hit the winner – his eighth goal of the season – when he reacted smartly to Rob Tiesteel’s header and lifted the ball over the keeper’s head and into the net.

Coedpoeth took a 10th minute lead at the Bernie Williams Memorial Ground through captain Tom Lloyd, but Greenfield hit back for a point with 40 gone, skipper Jack Gilmore collecting his 11th goal of the season, Corey Kennedy with the assist.
Greenfield finished third in the table, Coedpoeth sixth.
