North Wales Coast West round-up: Nefyn make it 16 unbeaten, leaders Bethesda held at home

CPD Nefyn United 3-1 CPD Llannerchymedd

Tomi Jones Evans proved why he is one of the Premier Division’s most feared players this season when he scored twice for Nefyn in Saturday’s win over Llannerchymedd.

Evans, who is fourth highest scorer in the division on 21 goals, top of the assists with 11 and has netted 27 times in all competitions this term, has been a central figure in the Penwaig’s unbeaten league run which now stands at 16 matches – 13 of them wins.

The Llŷn Peninsula side sit third in the Premier, five points behind leaders Bethesda Athletic having played a game more, but in the sort of form to capitalise on any slip-ups involving those above, or in and around them.

Nefyn broke the deadlock in the 36th minute of Saturday’s clash, Evans finding the net after a Llyr Pennant Williams assist.

Iwan Moore added a second seven minutes later, putting the hosts two-up at the interval.

Evans made it 3-0 on 71 minutes, Ifan Gwilym Jones this time the supplier before Arden Gisbourne replied for Medd with his 26th goal of the season.

Bethesda Athletic 2-2 Cemaes Bay

There was nothing to separate this pair at the end of 90 minutes as they shared the points for a second time this season.

Scott Hughes handed Pesda a fourth-minute lead from a Kyle Hartleb assist, but Iolo Hughes levelled for second-place Cemaes before the break.

Seventeen-year-old Ben Hoyland edged Bay ahead on 66 minutes with his first senior goal for the club, but Tomos Hughes’ 79th minute strike secured Athletic a point.

Glantraeth 1-2 Llanystumdwy

Stuart Rogers nudged Llanystumdwy ahead in the sixth minute, Andy Clarke levelled on 12, but Owen Pritchard clinched it for the visitors with the winner after 73.

Llanrug United 2-3 CPD Boded

Evergreen Chris Jones notched a first half double as Boded returned to winning ways at Eithin Duon.

All the goals came in the first half, Robin Whiteside Thomas with a pair for Llanrug, but Jones’ brace and a Rob Tiesteel net-finder banked the victory for Boded.

CPD Penrhyndeudraeth 2-4 Llanberis

Fresh from a great win at leaders Bethesda, the Darans did it again on the road, this time at Maes-y-Parc.

Ifan Mansoor struck twice inside the first quarter-hour to put Llanberis in command, but a Cian Pritchard double before half time took him up to 27 goals for the campaign – 22 of them in the same amount of matches in the league.

It was the Mansoor show again in the second half for the visitors, Peter making it 3-2 before brother Ifan completed his hat-trick after 53.

CPD Pentraeth 1-1 CPD Aberffraw

A good third point of the season for Aberffraw, who are still winless at the bottom after 24 matches.

A Gareth Hughes own goal gifted Pentraeth a seventh minute lead, but Aron Lewis-Davies replied for the visitors after 74.

Berffro held on for the draw despite having Sam Smith sent off for a second yellow card deep into added time.

Talysarn Celts 1-1 CPD Mynydd Llandegai

Alwyn Roberts scored first for Llandegai in first half added time, but Tirion Roberts rescued a point for Celts with a 67th minute equaliser.

DIVISION ONE

CPD Gaerwen 3 Caergybi 2

Gaerwen celebrated their first league win in six attempts at the expense of second-place Caergybi.

Barry Haigh scored in the first minute for the visitors, but Calum Thomas, Ioan Sandison and Keiran Williams hit back to give the Auctioneers a 3-1 half time advantage.

Haigh nabbed his second on 65, but there were no further goals, with Caergybi having captain Louis Chapman red-carded after 80 minutes.
