BETTY PICKERING SHIELD FINAL – APRIL 13, 2025

CPDM Henllan 1 (Evans 83)
Kinmel Bay 4 (E Jones 13 & 33, Walsh 34, G Williams 56)

It was a day Kinmel Bay will never forget.

The football club’s ladies team, whose improvement as this season progressed has been vast, defeated a young Henllan outfit to lift the 2024-25 Betty Pickering Shield.

Bay delivered a commanding performance win the showpiece match at Maesdu Park, Llandudno, with a 4–1 triumph.

Naomii Oakley’s West Division side set the tone from the first whistle, firing forward with three fast paced shots in the first 7 minutes with keeper Rhian Edwards standing firm and making some incredible saves.

It wasn’t long before Bay found the back of the net in the 13th minute when Elin Jones applied a composed finish following a precise through ball from Lexi Walsh.

The duo combined again when Walsh’s pinpoint assist allowed Jones to double the lead with a confident strike in the 33rd minute.

Barely a minute later, Walsh turned scorer, capitalising on Henllan’s lapse in concentration to make it 3–0 in the 34th minute – putting Kinmel Bay firmly in control of the tie by half-time.

Elin Jones (mixed blue kit) scored twice for Kinmel Bay

The second half saw no let-up. In the 56th minute, long-serving midfielder Georgia Williams added her name to the scoresheet, slotting home after another assist from Walsh.

Henllan made more of a game of it in the second half, Lia Evans scoring a consolation goal in the last 10 minutes with a shot from outside the box that flew over Shelby Wild.

It was Henllan’s 100th goal of the season on all competitions.

Kinmel Bay defend a corner

With an electric attacking display and a superb all-round team effort, Kinmel Bay Ladies lifted the Shield in style.

As for Henllan, it was not their day, but this exciting young side which has had an amazing debut season in senior football will come again many times.
