Menai Mavericks have a seven-point lead at the Division 1 summit after getting past the strong challenge of Tim o Walis on Wednesday night (March 5).
After a 9-9 first quarter, Mavericks led by five at half time.
Walis rallied superbly to win the third 9-7, but Menai took the last 8-5 to finish up six-goal winners – final score 35-29.
Fflamau TC outscored Penygroes Primos 27-24 after an even tougher battle.
Primos led 6-4 after the first session and it stood 12-12 at midway.
Fflamau won the third 7-5 and the closer 8-7 to claim a narrow three-goal success.
In DIVISION TWO, Pwllheli Pumas are just a point ahead in top spot following a 34-24 victory against Llewod Llyfni.
Pumas made a big statement by winning the opener 12-4 and by half time were 19-8 to the good.
However, Llyfni came back really well, drawing quarter three 8-8 and edging the last 8-7.
Cleo Hookes was a standout player for Pumas.
Second-place Genod Walis are just a point behind Pumas with a game in hand. On Tuesday night, Walis made it 12 straight wins by seeing off bottom team Pwllheli Dreigiau Dre 30-8.
The second quarter was close at 5-4 to Walis, but the overall success was emphatic.
Cara Studt put up a fine display for Pwllheli.
Holyhead Hawks overcame Porthmadog 33-19, winning all four quarters 8-4, 9-5, 9-4 and 7-6.
Sophie Ellis excelled for Port.
In the contest of the night, Walis Midffild nudged past Blaenau Ffestiniog 26-24.
Blaenau lost the first 7-5, but took the second 8-4 to lead 13-11 at half time.
Walis produced the goods in quarter three, winning it emphatically 9-1 to be 20-14 ahead entering the last.
Blaenau came again to win the final segment 10-6, but had left themselves with too much to do to snatch a win.
Sarah Partlett shone brightest for Blaenau, who will rue letting things slip in that all-important third quarter.
