CPD Gwalchmai add another amazing striking talent to their books

CPD Gwalchmai have added yet another goal-scoring talent to their already impressive pool.

Dion Jones has signed for the tier 4 North Wales Coast West Premier Division side from CPD Cefni.

The 18-year-old leaves Cefni as the leading scorer in North Wales Coast West Division One with 12 league goals this season.

He found the net 21 times in 27 matches for the Isgraig team last season, netting on his debut in a 3-1 Welsh Cup defeat at Nefyn United. He was fifth highest scorer in Division One in 2023-24 with 15 goals.

In all, he scored 35 goals in 42 appearances for CPD Cefni.

Gwalchmai manager Craig Evans has had Dion under his radar for some time and is delighted to finally sign his man.

Craig said: “Gwalch are happy to announce the signing of young talent Dion Jones from Clwb Peldroed Cefni. Dion is a player I had set my sights on since he burst into senior football. An exciting young talent with plenty to his game that’s eager to get going.

“Dion won’t need much introduction as many know his father Huw and uncle Graham ‘Squeez’ were brilliant players for the Gwalch before.

“As a club we’d like to thank Cefni for a smooth transfer and wish them the best of luck for the rest of the season.”

Dion Jones joins a prolific band of strikers already at Gwalchmai which include North Wales’ all-time top marksman Asa Thomas, the net-machine Marc ‘Logs’ Evans, Connor Owen, who last weekend reached 100 goals for the club in 111 appearances at the age of just 19 and Kaine Bentley, 80 senior goals in 108 matches in his career so far.
