Bangor youngster Erin Basinger could feel proud of her weekend’s work in more ways than one.
Not only did the 17-year-old play superbly for her team in Sunday’s 2-2 draw with Felinheli, she also made the Genero Adran League Team of the Week alongside other North Walians Taylia Chaloner (Flint Town United) and Elana Harley (Connah’s Quay Nomads).
Erin has already made 29 first team appearances for Bangor, including 14 this term and scored in a 7-1 Genero Adran Trophy victory at NFA.
Sunday’s match at Bangor City Stadium was a pretty evenly-fought affair which could have gone either way. There were plenty of chances created throughout the game.
Two well-worked goals from Bangor saw Ashleigh Jones hitting a half-volley looping shot over the Felin keeper in the 14th minute, and a great start back after a lengthy spell on the sidelines for Menna Evans, who tucked the ball in the near side of the goal to make it 2-2 with 74 on the clock.
Felin had come from behind to lead 2-1 through Llywela Edwards and former Bangor player Jenna Tugwell-Allsup.
After several seasons of enduring heavy losses to Llandudno, Llanfair United battled back from 3-1 down to force a draw against the reigning champions.
For Tudno, it was four points dropped at home within a week and it will take something quite spectacular now to get themselves into title contention.
Following a goalless first half, a Mary Bailey own goal on 55 minutes edged Llandudno into the lead.
Sixteen-year-old Anna Carey put the home side two-up on 63, but Paris Schofield soon hit back for the Powys ladies.
When Jasmin Dutton put the Seasiders 3-1 in front via a free kick with 78 on the clock, it looked like three points for all but in the bag for the home team.
Yet Llanfair refused to admit defeat, goals from Harriet Davies and Schofield earning them a point.
