Dean Redmond notched both Bethesda goals in their 2-1 win over Bontnewydd

NORTH WALES COAST WEST FOOTBALL LEAGUE – JAN 4

Premier Division

CPD Aberffraw 0 Llanrug United 10

Jonathan Sadler scored six goals for Llanrug last Saturday

Long-serving Llanrug player Jonathan Sadler hit a magnificent six goals in his team’s double-figure haul at Aberffraw last Saturday.

Sadler. 39, took his tally for the season to 15 goals in 13 league games with a double hat-trick at Cae Cynlas.

The veteran midfielder’s goals arrived after 20, 24, 32, 58, 66 and 72 minutes. His first-half hat-trick arrived in a 12-minute spell and his treble in the second period was a 14-minute effort.

According to the excellent Llanrug United website and the Cymru Football App, since 2014-15, Sadler has netted 145 goals in 258 appearances for the Eithin Duon club over the past 10 seasons.

Obviously, his career goes some way back beyond 14-15, but those figures give some idea about what a consistent and prolific marksman he has been.

His highest total in a single season over the period mentioned is 26 in 2023-24.

Also on the mark at Berffro at the weekend were Deion Hughes (2), Robin Whiteside Thomas and Owain Jones.

Bethesda Athletic 2 Bontnewydd 1

Dean Redmond’s double made it three goals in four matches for the striker since he returned to Bethesda in November.

His pair of net-finders on Saturday proved crucial as they ensured Pesda kick off 2025 with an eight-point lead in the Premier Division, where they are still unbeaten this term in 14 matches.

Former Menai Bridge Tigers and Bodedern Athletic front man Redmond, who was last with Bethesda in 2022-23, scored after 63 and 81 minutes at Meurig Park after Bontnewydd had taken a 38th minute lead through Alex Kalafusz.

CPD Llanberis 3 Glantraeth 0

A fine win for the Darans was made by possible by goals on 1 and 29 minutes via Aaron Williams and Dion Owen (penalty) before substitute Tim Cavanagh added a third with 95 showing on the clock.

Dylan John Williams missed a penalty for the visitors.

CPD Mynydd Llandegai 0 CPD Talysarn Celts 0

Llandegai ended a run of three straight defeats by taking a point against Talysarn at Penrhiw.
