NORTH EAST WALES FOOTBALL LEAGUE – OCTOBER 12

Last Saturday, Grassroots North Wales supporter MATT JOHNSON took his camera to three Wrexham area grounds to catch some action.

Here is a rundown of the matches he covered

Acton 5 Cefn Druids 0

Spider Park was the venue for an all-Championship Division Horace Wynne Cup clash between Acton and Cefn Druids.

Acton are 10th in the Championship table with Druids, reborn in tier 5 this season, lying three places below.

Hat-trick hero Niall Challoner put Acton ahead in the 10th minute, Ashley Ryan with the assist.

George Pattenden added a second for the hosts after 36, Nicholas Dunne setting him up.

Two-nil to the hosts at half time, and eight minutes into the second period Challoner made it a personal double, Joe Garner assisting.

It remained 3-0 until the 85th minute when Dunne helped Challoner complete his treble and a Garner penalty rounded things off. Druids also had to endure a late sending off.

Skippy 2 Rhostyllen 10

Bellevue Park staged another Horace Wynne Cup clash between Championship strugglers Skippy and Premier Division outfit Rhostyllen.

The experienced Simon Sedgwick recently took over as Rhostyllen manager, and his team were far superior on the day, rattling up 10 goals.

The prolific Tom Douglas led the way for the visitors with four goals, two of them penalties, while Liam Sklenar, Steven Jones and captain Drew Wickens added doubles.

Portuguese Joao Da Silva at least ensured Skippy got something out of the day with a double strike.

Bellevue 1 Deeside United 2

Two teams struggling for points met in a well-contested Championship battle which saw Deeside United edge the honours at Court Road.

A goalless first half featured chances at both ends, Bellevue hitting the crossbar.

Bellevue, seeking a first win of the season, took the lead five minutes into the second half following a free kick, but United shattered their victory dreams with a double from Bailey Hamilton on 56 and 73 minutes. Jack Smallcross and Kieren Ellams supplying the assists.

At 1-1. Bellevue hit the bar for a second time, but despite a fine effort they could not quite get the reward they perhaps deserved.
