Ardal Northern reports – Wed, August 14: Rhyl top with 100% record, Les Davies double

ARDAL NORTHERN LEAGUE REPORTS – WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 14

Two late goals ensured Rhyl 1879 are top of the table tonight and the only team in Ardal North West with a 100 percent record.
However, the Lilywhites had to do it the hard way, fighting back from conceding twice early on to get past the determined challenge of Corwen.
In a flying start from the promoted visitors, Sam Henry gave them a seventh-minute lead before Tom Mann doubled the advantage on 11.
Rhyl gradually found their way into the contest and hit back in the 45th minute through Alex Jones.
Then in added time at the end of the half, the prolific Callum Parry kept up his record of scoring in every game this season, making it eight goals in five outings.

Half-time: 2-2

The goals dried up for a long spell in the second half before Corwen keeper Kieran Smith was red-carded on 77 minutes for a challenge on Parry.
It still needed something special to turn this game Rhyl’s way and it came in the 83rd minute courtesy of a screamer from the edge of the box by new Lilywhites idol, Portuguese ace Jonny Bravo Pinto, who made it four goals in five appearances.
And the points were secured when James Stevens set up Casey Faulkner to make it 4-2 in added time.

CPD Y Felinheli 1 Porthmadog 4

Strong show on the road from Porthmadog who found themselves three-up inside the first 12 minutes at Cae Seilo.
Tom Hilditch, Cai Jones and Ryan Williams also found the target in a dynamic start from Chris Jones’ men.
Hilditch converted from the penalty spot early in the second half and it stayed 4-0 until sub Morgan Williams notched a late consolation for Felin.

Nantlle Vale 1 Holyhead Hotspur 2

Alex Jones and Cory Williams supplied the second half goals which banked maximum reward for Hotspur.
Llion Griffiths struck a 65th minute consolation for Vale.

NFA 2 CPD Llannefydd 1

Newcomers NFA made it back-to-back 2-1 home league wins thanks to goals from Chris Durkan (penalty) and a 77th minute decider from Kai Davies.
Lewys Turner had struck first for Llannefydd on 18 minutes, but Durkan levelled from the spot close to half time.

Trearddur Bay 2 Menai Bridge Tigers 0

A double from the legendary Les Davies earned Trearddur Bay their first win in Ardal North West, but for visitors Menai Bridge Tigers it was a third successive defeat since their promotion.
Davies revived memories of great days gone by when he struck in the 12th minute via an assist from ex-Bangor City team-mate Sion Edwards.
And Davies pounced again after 23 to make it three goals in two league outings, Sol Williams this time the provider.

Bow Street 2 Dolgellau AA 2

All-square at Cae Piod.
John Ferreira’s own goal handed Dolgellau a ninth-minute lead before Caio Carruthers equalised, but Gerwyn Williams restored the away advantage right on half time.
Rhys Hughes’ 66th minute leveller secured Bow a share of the spoils.

Brickfield Rangers 4 Cefn Albion 2

Superb win for Brickfield in the Wrexham-area derby, Jay Richardson (2), Steve Watkins and Andy Vale with the home goals, Conner Kendrick and Nic Jones responding.
Albion had Nic Jones and Jordan Williams sent off for two yellows in the eighth minute of added time.

Builth Wells 4 Llandrindod Wells 1

Tommy Rowlands (2), Adam Farmer and Lyndon Jones split the goals which made sure Builth ran out handsome winners.
Farmer also missed a penalty, while Ashley Jones came up with a consolation for Llan.

Radnor Valley 7 Llanidloes Town 1

Joe Price was a four-goal hero as Radnor dished out a magnificent seven.
Thomas Edwards (2) and Jack Clarke made up the home tally, Mason Jones on the mark for the Daffs.
