Manager Gareth Thomas has the full backing of club chiefs at CPD Y Rhyl 1879.
The man known popularly as “Perry” has been 1879 boss since the club was formed in 2020.
In the Lilywhites’ first competitive season of 2021-22, Thomas led them to a Tier 4 North Wales Coast East League Premier Division title and Cookson Cup double.
Rhyl went unbeaten in the league all season, winning 24 and drawing two of their 26 matches, scoring 116 goals.
They were promoted to the Tier 3 Ardal North West in 2022-23 and finished third.
The Belle Vue club look set to end up third again this season, although mathematically they could still make the promotion play-off final.
Under Thomas, Rhyl’s league record is: played 82 won 62 drawn 7 and lost 13.
The phoenix club, born in 2020 after the demise of the former Rhyl FC, received the marvellous news this season that they had raised enough money in grants to purchase their ground and protect the future of football at Belle Vue.
For six months of this season, 1879 led Ardal North West and looked certs for promotion, but a dip in form means they may miss out on going up. In fairness to Thomas, he has had an uncanny run of bad luck with injuries and unavailability during 2023-24.
Speculation has been rife over Thomas’ future as manager, but this week the club gave him their full support.
A statement said: “As we start the planning for the 2024-25 season, we want to make our stance clear that Gareth Thomas (Perry) has our unwavering support and backing as our men’s first team manager.
“After a commendable finish this season, we’re more determined for success than ever at Belle Vue and we as a club will do everything we can to support Perry, the management team and the players.
“Perry’s dedication, leadership and contribution to our club has been instrumental in our journey since our inception four years ago, and we have full confidence in his ability to lead us to greater heights.
“As we look to conclude the purchase of the Belle Vue stadium over the next couple of months together, with Perry at the helm, we’re ready to face the challenges ahead and strive for glory on the pitch.
“As a club everyone involved is excited on the journey ahead on and off the field and as we have done since day one, will leave no stone unturned in our pursuit of excellence and sustainable success.”
