Gerwyn Williams boosted his goals tally for the season to 25 in all competitions with a crucial double in Dolgellau’s excellent win over second-place Radnor Valley on Saturday.

Rob Evans’ side made it seven matches unbeaten in Ardal North East where they sit in an impressive fourth spot.

For Radnor, it was a case of back-to-back defeats for the first time this season. The Goats were looking to bounce back following the previous weekend’s 4-1 at Penrhyncoch, but were stung by the Wasps in their attempt to respond to a rare league reverse.

Dolgellau broke the deadlock as early as the 12th minute when a low cross from Will Gruffydd was knocked past Otto Jones by Gerwyn Williams from close range.

The Merionethshire outfit doubled their lead after 26 minutes, when the Valley defence hesitated as they waited for a whistle to stop play, and that allowed Williams to run through unopposed and kick the ball past Jones.

Williams is Ardal North East’s leading marksman on 19 league goals.

The Wasps increased their buffer three minutes after the interval when Daniel Thomas was on hand to sweep a low free-kick from out near the right-hand touchline inside the near post.

The Goats reduced the deficit after 73 minutes when Jack Price fired home a low shot into the bottom corner.

However, the visitors suffered a blow six minutes later when Ieuan Price received a second yellow card from referee Ryan Davies and that ultimately ended any hopes of the New Radnor men taking anything from the game.

Llanuwchllyn 3-2 Rhos Aelwyd

Still unbeaten Llanuwchllyn had to survive a late rally from visitors Rhos Aelwyd to take maximum points.

Steffan Dolben scored the only goal of the first half on 27 minutes to hand the hosts a half-time advantage.

The lead was 3-0 just past the hour after Meilir Williams converted a penalty to make it 25 goals this season, then Warren Aykroyd-Duckett soon added another.

Rhos kept trying and James Haynes made it 3-1 on 88 minutes before Dafydd Robertson cut the deficit to one in stoppage time, but the hosts held on.

Llandrindod Wells 1-1 Llanrhaeadr

All-square at The Broadway, Richard Powell putting Llandrindod ahead on seven minutes before Joe Vaughan levelled on 72.

Llanfair United 0-3 Bow Street

Second-half goals from Richard Ricketts, Iolo ap Dafydd and Ben Davies clinched the honours for Bow, whose coach Dean Evans was shown a red card after the final whistle.

Llangollen Town 1-2 Builth Wells

Benjamin Wilson gave Llangollen a 12th minute lead, but goals from Daniel Hall and Adam Farmer before half time won it for Wells.

Welshpool Town 0-6 Penrhyncoch

Leaders Penrhyncoch march on, Dion Phillips, Daniel Owen, Geoff Kellaway, Tomos Evans (2) and Harri Horwood all featuring on the scoresheet at Maesydre.

Kellaway missed a spot-kick for the visitors at 0-0.
