Major new signing for CPD Y Rhyl 1879!

CPD Y Rhyl 1879 will hope the signing of prolific striker Callum Parry from Llanrwst United will prove the crucial piece in the jigsaw as they go all out for the Ardal North West title in 2024.

Despite yesterday’s 4-2 defeat at second-place Nantlle Vale – the Lilywhites’ first league loss in 12 games – Gareth Thomas’ side are still eight points clear at the summit.

However, Nantlle have two games in hand and St Asaph City, also eight points behind 1879, have played one match less than the leaders.

So while Rhyl remain favourites to finish top, the title is by no means in the bag and therefore the capture of Parry could be vital in determining where the championship crown ends up.

Parry, 25, has had three spells at Llanrwst, as well as spending time in Tier 2 at Colwyn Bay, Holyhead Hotspur and Porthmadog.

In 2019-20, he netted 30 goals in 20 appearances for the Conwy Valley side before joining Colwyn Bay in the January 2020 window.

He was back at Gwydir Park for the 2021-22 campaign, when he banged in 27 goals in 28 appearances prior to switching to Porthmadog at the start of 2022.23.

Parry rejoined Llanrwst in January 2023 and had amassed 34 goals in 33 matches before deciding to sign up for Rhyl 1879.

So Parry’s overall first team record for Tier 3 Llanrwst in all competitions is a remarkable 91 goals in 81 matches.

Parry made seven appearances for Colwyn Bay, scoring once, played in just four games for Hotspur at the start of 2021-22- he joined the previous season which was wiped out by the pandemic – and registered six goals in 19 outings for Porthmadog.

It’s an exciting signing for Rhyl 1879, who have applied for a Tier 2 licence which would earn them Cymru North football, if they win promotion at the end of this campaign.
