JD CYMRU PREMIER – SEPTEMBER 9

Aberystwyth Town 2 (H Owen 4, Lewis 26)

Caernarfon Town 4 (Clarke 6, Donohue 19, Davies 71 & 90+2)

Two late goals against his former club from substitute Adam Davies clinched Caernarfon three points which lifted them into third place.

Aber had won three out of four Cymru Premier meetings with the Canaries last season, but it was a different story on Saturday at Park Avenue.

Rock bottom Aberystwyth had not managed a goal in their first five matches, but they put that right within four minutes of the start, loanee from Nomads Harry Owen turning sharply in the box and blasting into the roof of the net.

Two minutes later it was all-square, Sion Bradley playing a pass and return from a short corner before finding Zack Clarke, who lashed powerfully beyond keeper Dave Jones.

In the 19th minute Caernarfon were ahead when Dion Donohue cut in from the left and struck a fierce shot which was deflected past Jones for 2-1.

Aber rallied, Iwan Lewis drilling one just wide before visiting stopper Lewis Webb saved well from John Owen.

In the 26th minute it was level again when Owen laid the ball off and Iwan Lewis scored with a cracking shot.

The introduction of Cofis substitutes Ben Wynne and Adam Davies just before the hour mark provided some fresh impetus to the visitors, especially whilst going forward and they began piling on the pressure as they pinned their hosts in their own half.

Jones produced some fine stops in the Aber goal, his best a double save to thwart Darren Thomas and Louis Lloyd.

In the 71st minute the inevitable third arrived for Richard Davies’ side.

Marc Williams made a penetrating run and slipped the ball to Adam Davies, who placed a neat shot past the keeper.

And the points were sealed when Davies tricked his way into the box and worked the ball onto his right foot before firing confidently past Jones to make it 4-2.

Caernarfon: Lewis Webb, Iwan Cartwright, Dion Donohue, Ryan Austin, Phil Mooney, Ben Maher, Marc Williams, Sion Bradley, Zack Clarke, Darren Thomas, Louis Lloyd. Subs (used): Ben Wynne, Adam Davies, Gruff John, Joe Faux, Cai Griffiths. Not used: Tim Pritchard, Danny Gosset.
