Liverpool Competition – Perera passes 50 league wickets in 2023 for Prestatyn

1ST XI SECOND DIVISION

Parkfield Liscard (5) 86-10 Prestatyn (23) 174-10

All-rounder Sampath Perera scored 48 and took four wickets in a decisive Prestatyn win at Pembertons Meadow.

Put into bat, the North Wales side were bowled out for 174 in 52.2 overs, top contributor Perera out caught two short of a 50, his innings coming off just 45 balls and including five fours.

Opener Sheil Sethi added 36 and Lucas Sheridan 27 for the visitors.

Benjamin Hughes then scooped 4-13 off seven and Perera 4-35 as Parkfield slumped to 86 all out.

Sri Lankan star Perera reduced the hosts to 8-3, taking the first three wickets to fall.

Perera is now on 52 league wickets for the season at 9.90 apiece.

Prestatyn edged up to fifth with this success.

Northop Hall (4) 137-10 Norley Hall (25) 138-4

Ben Slater produced the stand out knock of 51 as Northop Hall set 137 all out at Smithy Lane after winning the toss and electing to bat.

Skipper Carwyn Johnson added 27 and Alex Smith 23 for the home side, whose total was never going to be enough to deliver victory.

Norley reached 138-4 off 38.5 to seal a 25-4 points triumph, Liam Evans-Ford collecting an impressive 2-29 from 14 for the hosts.

ECB PREMIER LEAGUE 1ST XI

Colwyn Bay (5) 157-10 Ormskirk (25) 224-6 dec

Battling Bay slipped to the bottom of the table after Saturday’s loss to leaders Ormskirk at Penrhyn Avenue.

Inserted by the hosts, the West Lancashire visitors amassed 224-6 declared off 40.4 overs, Robert Rankin 59 and Harvey Rankin 50 not out.

Paul Jenkins collected 3-59 with his left-arm spin and Ryan Holtby took 2-59.

In reply, Bay were dismissed for 157, Luke Russell making 36 and extras came to 32, Jamie Barnes 6-32 for the table-toppers who grabbed the points 25-5.

2ND XI PREMIER DIVISION

Ormskirk 2nd XI (25) 224-7 dec Colwyn Bay 2nd XI (6) 141-10

Arthur Jones’ excellent bowling return of 4-39 off 15 overs stood out as Bay conceded 224-7 declared to hosts Ormskirk seconds.

Jack Snowdon hit 109 not out and Nikhil Rao 82 for the home side, who chose to bat first.

Bay were all back in the hutch for 141, Shaun Davies 51 and Matt Russell 37, the pair putting on 64 for the second wicket.

Ian Robinson gathered a remarkable 7-15 off nine overs for the West Lancastrians.

2ND XI FIRST DIVISION

Liverpool 2nd XI (25) 206-6 dec Northop Hall 2nd XI (6) 87-10

Skipper Thomas Brimelow led Liverpool to a match-winning total by posting 100 not out in his team’s 206-6 declared after being invited to bat.

Matthew Edwards snapped up 3-33 off 11 for the visitors.

Niall Hurst made 38 in Northop Hall’s reply of 87 all out.

2ND XI SECOND DIVISION

Prestatyn 2nd XI (2) 81-10 Sutton 2nd XI (25) 82-2

Opener Richard A Williams’ 42 was the highlight of Prestatyn’s low total of 81 all out set at Beach Close.

Sutton needed just 18 overs to reach a winning 82-2, Ashley Jones 2-18 off eight for the hosts, who lost 25-2 on points.
