One of Anglesey’s greatest goalscorers has retired from the game.

Gary Bolton, 38, spent the last 13 years of his career with CPD Aberffraw, having previously played for a number of clubs including Bodedern, where he won the Welsh Alliance League title in 2004/05.

Bolton clocked up a total of 304 games for Berffro, whilst scoring no fewer than 205 times for the club.

In all, he has notched more than 300 career goals.

A CPD Aberffraw statement said: “The club would not be where we are now without the vital contribution Bolton has made, both on and off the field.

13 years of nothing but loyalty says everything you need to know about this man.

“Every summer he was chased by top clubs but he stayed true to Berffro, something we all appreciate.”

Before his days at Aberffraw, who he joined back in 2010, Bolton had started out in the North Gwynedd and Anglesey Sunday League for Trearddur Bay in 2003.

He then signed for Bodedern in the following season, winning the Welsh Alliance there and spending four years with the first team and the Reserves.

A brief spell with Holyhead Hotspur then followed for the attacker before a season each at Cemaes Bay and Gaerwen.

Then came the start of a very special relationship with Aberffraw, where he fittingly ends a goal-packed career.

His best seasons with Aberffraw included 2013/14, when he netted 38 goals, and 2012/13, when he hit 26.
