NORTH WALES CRICKET LEAGUE REPORTS – JUNE 24

DIVISION ONE

Northop 2nd XI (13) 217-4 Menai Bridge 2nd XI (2) 216-7

Chris Brooks’ vital 72 helped leaders Northop’s seconds achieve an outstanding six-wicket victory over Menai Bridge seconds.

The Anglesey visitors won the toss and chose to bat, posting 216-7 off 45 overs, Luke Robinson 45 not out, Ian Granger 45, Andrew Nuttall 40 and Edward Gadsby 33.

Tom Sudder claimed 2-29 and Joe Griffiths 2-54 for the hosts.

The Flintshire outfit reached 217-4 in 40.1 overs to seal a 13-2 points success, Brooks with the star knock, David Foulkes 45 no and Darren Williams 34.

Connah’s Quay (13) 211-9 Dolgellau (2) 140-10

James Du Toit edged ever closer to the 500 league runs mark for the season with a dominant 97 in Connah’s Quay’s triumph against Dolgellau.

South African Du Toit notched his fourth half century of the campaign and almost a second ton before being out caught just three short of three figures.

The home side set 211-9 off 45 overs after being put into bat. Rhys Stout finished unbeaten on 50, sharing in a fifth-wicket stand of 72 with Du Toit.

Sam Williams picked up 5-35 and Joe Williamson 2-36 before the visitors were bowled out for 140, Sion Francis 37. Du Toit snared 3-12 and Mali Auty 3-26 for the Deesiders.

Gwersyllt Park (13) 127-4 Bethesda (2) 125-10

Lewis Cole’s outstanding 5-23 put Gwersyllt Park well on their way to victory.

Bethesda were bowled out for 125, but were 54-8 and would have been much poorer only for an unbeaten 44 from number 10 Dewi Roberts.

Iroshan De Silva also took 2-13 and Daniel Jones 2-24 for the home side.

Gwersyllt required just 19.4 overs to reach 127-4, Jake James leading the charge with 51 not out and Ralfie Challinor adding 37, the pair putting on 50 for the third wicket.

Hawarden Park (13) 165-10 Buckley (2) 98-10

Owen Skillander’s commanding 76 did most to ensure Hawarden Park comfortably saw off Buckley at Moor Lane.

Opener Skillander’s knock guided the hosts to 165 all out, Mathew Edge a brilliant 3-4 for Buckley, for whom Matthew Blunden took 2-29 and Lee Taylor 2-32.

Bucks were dismissed for 98, Evan Shaw 3-14, Adam De Rycke 2-15 and Tom Wilson 2-20 for the hosts.

Llay Welfare (3) 111-10 Abergele (12) 151-10

Abergele rounded off an excellent June with a fourth straight league victory.

David Moulson was chief contributor with 35 as Gele were bowled out for 151, Edward Rooney adding 28 and skipper Karl Higgins 26.

Llay’s Jacob Roberts notched an excellent 4-14 off 8.4 overs, while David Phennah collected 2-18 from nine.

The hosts were sent packing for 111, Deemantha Bandara 28, Adil Hussain best of the away bowling with 3-19, Higgins bagging 3-30 and Rooney 2-22.

Marchwiel & Wrexham (1) 117-10 Conwy (14) 118-3

Evan Williams starred with a four-wicket haul and a half century as Conwy celebrated an emphatic success at Marchwiel Hall.

Williams scooped 4-27, Alex Price 2-16 and Guto Davies 2-17 as Marchwiel and Wrexham were dismissed for 117, Nick Husbands scoring 28 and Gareth Evans 24.

In reply, Conwy eased to 118-3 off 32.2, opener Williams 54, Matt Lawrenson 2-27 for the hosts.
