Carmel won by 34 runs

Hâf Morgan-Read continued her blazing start to the season with a top-score of 34 as Carmel hit top spot in the North Wales Women’s Cricket League East on Wednesday.

Put into bat by Buckley, captain and wicket-keeper Morgan-Read took just 16 balls to reach her total as the visitors set 101-3 off their 16 overs for a net score of 286.

Alex Owen added 24 and Carol Owen 16 for the table-toppers, while Claire Worral, Sarah Sprowell and Claire Morgan took a wicket each for the hosts.

In reply, Buckley made 107 runs but lost 11 wickets, giving them a net of 252.

Debbie McManus scored 25 (twice out – net 15), Claire Thomas 12 (net 7), Sarah Sprowell 11 (net 6) and Lesley Mayers 10 (net 5).

For Carmel, Charlotte Taylor took 4-17, Katie Ryle 2-18 and there was one wicket each for Carol Owen, Alex Owen and Ceri Owen.
