Flint Town United women announce two exciting new signings

Zoe Stopford has signed for Flint Town United

One of the finest players to feature in the North Wales Women’s League last season has changed clubs.

Zoe Stopford has signed for Flint Town United after spending 2022-23 with NFA, where she netted 18 goals and played a key role in the team’s promotion to Genero Adran North.

The 26-year-old finished sixth overall in the list of NWWFL top goal scorers.

Zoe was named Tier 3 Player of the Season by Grassroots North Wales for her amazing consistency over the campaign.

In her youth days, the talented attacking player was a member of the Prestatyn Girls team which reached the 2011-12 Welsh Cup semi-finals.

She later joined Rhyl and Prestatyn, scoring the club’s first ever Welsh Premier League goal in a 1-0 win at Aberystwyth in 2014, before moving away to study at Edge Hill University.

Zoe returned to Rhyl FC for the 2018-19 campaign and notched her share of goals.

In 2021-22, she signed for Holywell and brought a lot of quality to the team.

The Flint crew are delighted to welcome her on board and may well sing this to her this season…

Stop! In the name of goals

Ruby Hastings (Northop Hall to Flint Town United)

Ambitious Flint have also welcomed with open arms the signing of 16-year-old prospect Ruby Hastings.

The right-winger joins from Northop Hall.

Ruby told Grassroots North Wales: “I’ve played at Northop Hall Girls since I was 8 years old and played for Flintshire schoolgirls and North East Wales when I was younger.”

On joining Flint, she added: “I’m excited about signing and can’t wait to get started.”

When Flint contacted Ruby for a chat, I wonder if they called Hastings Direct
